Home visit

I am back at home for a few days to see my family and friends.

Me and my sister went out last night

I wore these babies! KATY PERRY EYELASHES! They are the same as all eyelure lashes really, same glue, just endorsed by my favourite, Miss KP.
Photobucket
You get a cool sticker in with them as and the packaging is super cute. They were good as well, easy to apply and stayed on all night and I think I can get another wear from them.

There are a couple of different styles available so I will try them next :)

Photobucket

Also the observant of you can see I have dyed my hair, the red faded a lot after its first wash and the difference in colour between my roots and ends was just ridiculous. I panicked and bought a dark colour...and boy did it go dark!! The colour is semi permanent so it should fade slightly *fingers crossed*

hair this dark just doesnt suit my colouring when will I learn?!

hope you all have exciting weeks planned!

New hair

This was a bit of a gamble, it only half paid off, I have major bright roots and darker red ends. Think I will keep it for a bit to see if my roots darken a little.Photobucket
this is me looking a bit scruffy

I bought this cute paint by numbers today.
Photobucket

It will look great hanging in the kitchen. When I'm in my wood panelled kitchen I like to pretend I am in the alps somewhere and outside my window are big icicles and a lovely ski resort town. If I were to have a holiday home it would be a chalet, they are so romantic even when the snow is gone!!

Ive already started to paint, here is what I have done so far
Photobucket
Ben is going to the gym tonight so I'm sure I will be doing this all evening with saturday night tv on in the background :)

Today was the first day of my weeks holiday off work so I am happy as a clam and have lots planned for the next few days.

Cushions

I love cushions, Im not one of those who will get carried away and pile up hundreds of throw pillows on the bed so they become an inconvenience when you need to get in but I am a believer in cushions brightening up a room and adding a bit of comfort and character.

Like this chair for instance its a neutral colour so it needs a bit of colour.
Photobucket
The Racoon (cover only) is from H&M home, the Stag cushion is from Primark

they are too big to both go on the chair but Ben was sitting on the sofa so I displayed them here for a quick photo.

I cannot wait for the January sales where I am hoping to pick up a sewing machine so I can start making my own cushion covers. They would make splendid gifts :]

House love

I love having a space of my own (with the bf of course).

We go a bit mental with buying things to fill it with, but personalising a space is what makes a rented flat a home right?

Ikea purchases:
Photobucket
VILMIE RUTA I love the geometric retro pattern and the colours go so well in our flat.

Cheeky thrift finds:

amazing french glass and jug set with cute sailboats which I found in a charity shop in Grove they cost me like £3.50 there are 5 glasses in total but they were in the sink ha.
Photobucket

Le Crueset pans absolute bargain at £4 from a second hand yard in Wantage.(they are my fave colour as well!!)
Photobucket
Ive tried to match the table cloth with the kitchen tiles, its not perfect but good enough for now!

Posters:
Photobucket I put these posters in the living room because the colours in each matched the room the yellows match the walls and the blues in the star wars poster matched the sofa, it ties the room together.

Continuing that seventies theme with Star Wars the frames are from Ikea.

Vinatge Postcards

I love vintage postcards especially 1920/30s travel ones that they used to encourage the use of the trains and underground.

I have framed some for my living room :)

Photobucket

my next post will be all about packing and planning for my Amsterdam holiday on Sunday!!

Ive been thinking a lot lately that I would like to invest in a sewing machine. A decent one (not like the £20 one I bought which never worked!) I have a lot of home decor plans and I can't do them without a sewing machine!!

Anyone have a good machine that they would recommend. Im looking for something that does the basics and I dont really want to spend more than £200.

a few pictures of the flat

So me and the Bf are steadily filling our home with lovely things, here are some of the latest additions:

Photobucket
I got the cushion :D

This painting we got from a carboot sale for 50p, madness! The frame alone must be worth that! It is beautiful and we put it in the bathroom. It makes me smile just looking at it.Photobucket
Our lovely telephone, I feel like Audrey Hepburn everytime I use it!Photobucket

I also watched The Lovely Bones recently, it was such a good film I really enjoyed it. Obviously it isnt a pleasant film, its really very sad. However the set design was incredible and the Salmon house is a dream come true! 1970s in all its bright floral splendorPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Just look at those prints!!

Simple home decor using old Records

Here are a few simple cheap ideas for decorating your home and adding a touch of rock and roll.

I love old records, I love the texture, the sleeve designs and I love the technology behind them, much nicer than boring old cds and a million times better than an mp3 download!

Display your favourite album sleeves in frames for instant art, like these from Urban Outfitters:Photobucket £12 per frame

http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk/album-frame/invt/5527435297795/?htxt=nGPAKW7sKnoSuTpqu2GJrpwkM2qUXR2dd99ahVvGWBefwqjXWY%2BOMl8SVIVPwLxipDK62QoSr1Da%0AmDo%2BAWl6TA%3D%3D

You could even frame the record itself, especially if you have a decorated one or an unusual colour.Photobucket

Melt a record and make a bowl!
Photobucket
you will need:

a 12inch record
baking tray
Oven proof mug/bowl (smaller than circumference of record)
oven gloves

preheat the oven to 200 degrees C

Put your mug/bowl upturned onto the baking tray with the record placed centrally on top of the mug.

put the tray with mug and record in the oven for 5mins, by this time it should have drooped around the edge of the mug/bowl

remove from oven with oven gloves and mould the record into a bowl shape.

It will not take long for the record to cool and harden, then its ready to display!

If you dont have any old records, pop down to your local charity shop or indoor market I can guarantee you will find lots of cheap records :)
