Home visit

I am back at home for a few days to see my family and friends.

Me and my sister went out last night

I wore these babies! KATY PERRY EYELASHES! They are the same as all eyelure lashes really, same glue, just endorsed by my favourite, Miss KP.
Photobucket
You get a cool sticker in with them as and the packaging is super cute. They were good as well, easy to apply and stayed on all night and I think I can get another wear from them.

There are a couple of different styles available so I will try them next :)

Photobucket

Also the observant of you can see I have dyed my hair, the red faded a lot after its first wash and the difference in colour between my roots and ends was just ridiculous. I panicked and bought a dark colour...and boy did it go dark!! The colour is semi permanent so it should fade slightly *fingers crossed*

hair this dark just doesnt suit my colouring when will I learn?!

hope you all have exciting weeks planned!

Weekend with my sister

My sister and her boyfriend came to visit for a few days, it was lovely!

We went out, shopped, played board games, watched films and ate some yummy food!

I made my best fondue yet! I used a tip from Cook like Heston coating the cheese with cornflour when grated, it worked a charm!

We ate Gyoza at Wagamamas in Cardiff Bay <3 I love gyoza its my fave!

We played The Walking Dead board game I got Ben for christmas, it was a tricky one to get a hang of but we think we played it right haha.

I love my sister we get on so well, I can tell her anything and she is hilarious :)

Hope you all had lovely weekends, its snowing here but not settling :( so I think we are in for a week of cold wet and miserable weather booo!

Breaking out the Fondue

Ben and I bought a fondue set in Amsterdam and last night we tried it out!

It was so delicious I cant even describe to you!

I took the recipe for 'Dutch fondue' from the Hamlyns Fondue Cookbook (1p on amazon) which is the exact same book as my mum has from the seventies, but she didnt want to part with it so I bought the same one.
Photobucket
We used bake your own bread rolls and meatballs as our chosen dipping food.
The cheese was essentially white wine, gouda cheese and edam with seasoning and a bit of cornflour.

Photobucket
BEN even had a heinken for double the authenticity.

I am definitely going to invite my friends over and have a fondue party soon :)

My 21st Birthday

It was my 21st birthday on the 24th of January, and I had a wonderful time!

all friday I baked and prepared food and the decorations for my Mexican themed party.
PhotobucketPhotobucket matching birthday cake and fairy cakes.

Photobucket
me and my best friend vicky, she came all the way from coventry to wales with some of my other friends to see me, which was lovely! I loved her pinata skirt, (a tutu with crepe paper sewed onto the layers) awesome!
There were lots of great costumes, plenty of moustaches and sombreros.

Photobucket

Food wise I made cheesy nachos with jalapenos, I heated wraps and pitta breads to go with the chilli my boyfriend made. Then I just cut lots of raw cucumber and carrot for the tonne of salsa and other dips I bought. A mexican feast!

I also made a Tequilla Sunrise to go in my cocktail fountain. And of course a pinata filled with sweeties.
Photobucket

anyway, glad I finally posted this because its very delayed!

January Plans

Photobucket

Its my Birthday on the 24th of this month! I will be 21 which is probably the last of the decent birthdays :/

Anyway I plan to have a mexican themed party!

I got a lot of ideas from Gringo's Guide to a vintage fiesta!

Photobucket

Here is my costume so far:
Photobucket
I adjusted the skirt from an old queen of hearts costume I had made and sewed on the ribbon. Ive not done this very neatly because my sewing machine packed in, so I had to hand stitch it, I'm not very neat anyway but I'm terribly impatient as well.
I got this wonderful gypsy top off ebay for like £4, just right for my outfit.
Photobucket
All i need now is a big red flower for my hair :D
As for decor I have bought a mexican flag and i have just started making colourful paper chains.

Photobucket

I have yet to get a pinata, I might make one, I'm just a little short of time and I have a busy week ahead with uni assessments etc. We will see!

Here I am trying on my boyfriend's costume, I bought him that sombrero back from Spain in August.
Photobucket
I think the party will be a huge sucess, last year's Wizard of Oz theme was great! Theres nothing like Mexican food and music to warm you up in this cold weather!

Paris Part Quatre!

Day 3 - EVENING

Alexa's 21st birthday deserved a celebration of epic proportions, so we headed to the supermarche for bottles of wine.
Getting ready to go out in the dorm we drank our wine and started a game of 'I have never' it didnt take long for us to get quite merry.

We had a reservation at the Italian restaurant nextdoor, so a group of 30 of us headed over. I think we were quite noisy :S!! I had a four seasons pizza and it was so good! We could see them cooking in a proper stone oven. We ate and drank some more and enjoyed each others company. When dessert came Alexa was surprised by a sparkler in her creme brulee!
Photobucket
here is a picture of me, katy and the 2 laurens.
Photobucket i love the tea dress im wearing, its not vintage but there were some great reproductions a year or 2 ago.

continuing the party we went down the road to a karaoke bar we had spotted the first day. Unfortunately the language barrier or (i think we got ripped off as tourists) got in the way of our fun. We noticed the alcohol menu was really expensive so we asked for tap waters, we were given 3 bottles of sparkling water and then they tried to charge us 6 euros for each one! So we went to leave and most of us managed to get out but one of our friends got stuck inside and the bar owners threatened her with calling the police! She reluctantly payed the money and everyone chipped in when she came outside.

Photobucket
here is a picture of some of the girls with the expensive bottles of water and some local boys who jumped in the photo.

The french boys pointed us in the direction of a good club. In the end we only had 1 more drink and walked back to the hostel because we were already majorly drunk and had to get the Eurostar the next day. It sounds anti-climatic but it was an awesome night.

Day 4 - Homeward bound!

The trip went so quick and I had such a great time! We had a few hours in the morning to do one last bit of shopping/whatever before we headed back to Gare du Nord for the Eurostar. Because of our night out we decided to just make our way to the station and chill out in a cafe and wait for the others. On the way we found a cute little camera store with a window FULL of lenses. It was amazing. The shop was more like a cupboard so we didnt go in.
Photobucket (not a great photo i know, sometimes its hard to believe I'm doing a photography course)
The beautiful building that is Gare du Nord, i love the impressive roof. One last panini and then we boarded the Eurostar home, the mood was a lot more subdued this time round, everyone was tired and sad to be going back home to the reality of dissertations, deadlines and general work. (oh and the welsh weather!)
Photobucket

We arrived back in Newport 7.30 British time, it was pouring with rain. Welcome home!
haha

hope youve enjoyed these posts and i wasnt just rambling!
